DICE welcomes Paul Heidhues (currently ESMT Berlin) as of October 2016 to hold one of the two newly funded endowed chairs at DICE.
The Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is seeking to fill the position of a (non-tenured) Assistant Professorship (W1) of Industrial Organisation as of May 2016. Candidates should have a research focus in applied microeconomics and should analyse topics from industrial organisation or competition policy by means of theoretical, empirical or experimental methods.

[Only available in German:] Am 3. November wurden im oeconomicum zwei Preise für Nachwuchswissenschaftler vergeben. Für seine mit ‚summa cum laude‘ bewertete Dissertation „Privacy and Economics" erhielt Dr. Volker Benndorf (35) den mit 5.000 Euro dotierten Preis der Goethe Buchhandlung für die „Beste Dissertation der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät des Jahres 2014“.
Jens Wrona was honoured with the "Reinhard-Selten Preis für die beste Forschungsarbeit eines Wissenschaftlers unter 32 Jahren" and the "Young Author Best Paper Award".
Prof. Dr. Justus Haucap, head of the Düsseldorfer Instituts for Competition Economics (DICE), was honoured with the Gustav-Stolper-Award 2015 during the annual conference of the Verein für Socialpolitik.
Jens Suedekum and Hans-Theo Normann belong to the TOP-100 of the strongest economic researchers among the German-speaking economists. Justus Haucap is on thirteenth place among the most influential German economist.
The Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) has appointed Professor Jens Suedekum as a research fellow in the programme area “International Trade and Regional Economics”.
The DICE is now an official member of The Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE). The independent institution works on the regulation of European industries, mainly network industries such as electricity or railway. The think tank is based in Brussels and allows the DICE to foster its network with leading universities, policy makers, and enterprises.
The CERRE has three core topics: international standardization of regulation, market delineation, and research on regulatory instruments. The research results and policy advises base on latest research techniques and include knowledge from economics, law, and social science. Furthermore, the institute cooperates intensively with the European Commission and offers trainings and workshops.
Research at DICE encloses theoretical, empirical and experimental work on competition problems. Preliminary results are published in two workings paper series.
