Best Young Researcher Paper Award 2022 for Kai Fischer and Benedikt Schmal

Kai Fischer and Benedikt Schmal have received the Best Young Research Paper Award 2022 for their paper "Rabbits Caught in the Headlights: Mispricing New Information in a High Stakes Environment", Kai Fischer and Benedikt Schmal received the Best Young Researcher Paper Award 2022 of the European Sports Economics Association (ESEA).  The two PhD students investigated whether markets react efficiently to new information. They found that port betting markets overestimate information when it arises at short notice. Furthermore, it can be shown that new information brings both uncertainty and inertia into the market.

The Best Young Researcher Paper Award was launched by the ESEA in 2014 and has the goal of promoting outstanding research papers by aspiring young researchers and to recognise outstanding work in the field of sports economics.
