According to an evaluation by Media Tenor on behalf of the Initiative Neue Soziale Marktwirtschaft (INSM), Prof Dr Jens Südekum is the 8th most influential economist in Germany. DICE Director Prof Justus Haucap is ranked 36th, with ifo President Clemens Fuest in first place ahead of Veronika Grimm, an economic expert.

The ranking is made up of four influencing factors and evaluates

1.     Scientific relevance (40%)
2.     Media presence (25%)
3.     Political influence (20%)
4.     Social media (15%)

Südekum scores particularly well in the political influence category and with his media presence. He also achieved a top score in the science category. Haucap scores well in the science and politics category.
