Organising Institution

DICE is an Institute of the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf. Since its establishment in 2009 DICE has been part of the Faculty of Business and Economics and stands for excellence in research and teaching.

DICE was founded on the initiative of the entrepreneurial family Schwarz-Schütte and its not-for-profit foundation, the Schwarz-Schütte-Förderstiftung. The objective of the Schwarz- Schütte-family was, and is, to reduce the remarkable lack of well-founded analysis on competition theory and policy throughout Germany and Europe.

The development and maintenance of DICE is backed by a contract between the Schwarz-Schütte-Förderstiftung and the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf. By contributing one of the largest private donations in Germany, the Schwarz- Schütte-Förderstiftung enabled the Faculty of Business and Economics to finally offer Bachelor of Science and Master of Science curricula in Economics. It also financed the construction of a state-of-the-art faculty building, the architecturally elaborated “oeconomicum”.
