Dr. Susanne Cassel has been working at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action since 2001, where she heads the "Fiscal Policy, Economic Policy Coordination" unit. In addition, she is chairperson of ECONWATCH – Society for Policy Analysis and lecturer at the Dusseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE). She studied economics at University of Bochum, Université Paris IX – Dauphine and University of Freiburg where she earned her PhD in 2000 with a doctoral dissertation on „An Analysis of Economic Advice Provided from an Institutional Economics Perspective“. In 2007 she received a Master‘s in Public Administration degree from Harvard Kennedy School – J.F. Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, USA. From 1995-2001 she worked as research and teaching assistant at the Institute for Economic Research at the University of Freiburg. Her professional interests include scientific policy advice as well as economic policy issues with special emphasis on aspects of public choice and institutional economics.
