Competition in a changing health care system

  • Project Period: 09/2010 - 08/2012
  • Funding: Strategischer Forschungsfonds

Summary

This project analyzes competition in the German health care system in the face of institutional, technological, and demographic changes. The theoretically-based empirical studies evaluate current policies in health care and derive recommendations for a more efficient supply. The main foci lie on competition between hospitals, especially in terms of efficiency and quality, and on competition between pharmaceutical companies, especially in terms of entry and innovation as well as demand elasticities.
