apl. Prof. Dr. Tobias Thomas was appointed to the newly constituted Austrian Productivity Council (Produktivitätsrat). The tasks of the Productivity Council include the systematic observation and analysis of developments that significantly influence Austria's productivity and competitiveness. The Council aims to identify and promote measures and reforms to strengthen the competitiveness of the Austrian economy and is comparable to the German Council of Economic Experts.

Tobias Thomas is Director General of Statistik Austria, the Austrian statistics authority, and has been an adjunct professor at DICE since 2019 .
